BASIS
The client wants to create vacation apartments for their family in a natural setting in Okonina. The site is located by a stream in a meadow surrounded by trees. The individual apartments are meant to be interconnected. The main house includes the central multipurpose space and other areas for socializing.
CONCEPT
The architecture consists of multiple structures. Some combine into a communal main building, serving as a space for gatherings and shared activities. Others branch into individual living units, providing privacy and individuality. A shared roof encases all units, creating covered walkways and verandas where tables and lounges can be placed.
The roof is supported using the so-called "mikado principle," where interwoven extended rafters create a nest-like appearance. The roofs of individual structures are overlapping. Due to the concentric design, the buildings close off towards the center (service areas) and open up to nature away from the center (living areas), offering views. This shift in perspectives balances privacy. The structure is elevated from the ground, allowing architecture to respectfully coexist with nature.
We've created architecture that serves as a "Nest for the Body and Soul" for visitors. Here, one can experience nature, find a home, and, in the tranquility of the forest, get to know oneself.
