BASIS:
The investor is planning to develop a new tourist destination at a farm / inn Topličar in the valley of Kopačnice in the Gorenja vas - Poljane County. The area is composited of two parts, which is divided by Kopačnica stream and the road. On the northern part of the plot there are three already existing facilities (the inn, a business facility and a hayrack), while there’s a thermal spring south of the road.
The new destination offers an opportunity for a tourist program, which comes from natural (untainted nature, hot spring) and cultural resources (Topličar inn, a line of strongholds called Rupnikova linija, a copper mine...).
DESIGN:
The design comes from the essence of the location – the thermal water. The spa has been there for a while now and it gives us the experience of warm, healing water. Hot springs can be either in the city or in the nature. Coming from our current life style and the real needs of a modern man, the user of the hot springs is searching for the experience of an authentic natural and cultural identity. The user is experiencing the local identity through its contents: spa, sleep, food, walk, work, etc. The architecture is a tool, which offers this experience. The architecture is a FRAME for experiencing local natural and cultural identity.
