Basis
The area surrounding the health-care centre is currently an asphalt-covered area with unregulated stationary traffic that needs to be regulated and optimised. The entrance to the health-care centre is oriented directly to the main street. The area around the bus station also needs to be regulated; also, the location for the fire station needs to be selected.
Concept design
Within the area of the Izvir Square in front of the health-care centre the green areas along the Pešnica river are intertwined with the urban paving into a symbiosis of two ambiences. The undulating of space meets the undulation of the green thus forming a high-quality space in front of the health-care centre.
The entire regulation of the Izvir Square functions as a transversal connection of two main traffic routes. The Izvir Square parts on the way towards the river to two branches, one of which is linked with the market via the pedestrian footbridge, while the other lowers to the level of the river and the pedestrian pathway.
A heartbeat causing undulation of the water is set up as the building block of the design. The design technique is undulation which is applied to the design of the green river bank and to the undulation of the square in front of the health-care centre.
The parking space is positioned between the Health Care Centre and the Pešnica river. It can be accessed from both main traffic routes.
The fire station is positioned next to the existing bus station with the shortest possible way towards the main traffic routes. In architectural terms it is connected with the jutting roof for buses. The construction is made of wood, while the façade is made of textile.
