BASIS
The investor is the owner of two existing houses on the plot. They are located in the town of Ljubno ob Savinji, a part of the cultural heritage of Slovenia and as such protected from any new construction, while reconstructions are allowed to a certain extent.
DESIGN
According to the investor’s wishes, to considerably enhance the area, the only possible solution was to unite both houses. The ground floor is a kind of utility floor. The living area starts on the upper level and ends in the attic. The living quarters wind as meanders past the islands and form theme bays. These bays are: the living bay, the multimedia bay and the green bay. The islands take on a function of a pool, a kitchen with a dining room and sleeping quarters. They are like consoles, stringing along the object, and because of their dimensions take on the role of independent units. The building takes over the image of three houses, being encircled by one.
