The wish of a younger family is to have a house on the Slovenian coast. They want to spend their free time between holidays and weekends in their house, located on the slopes of the hill with a view of the Piran Bay.
The purpose is to create a second home that becomes their sanctuary. The basic idea stems from the premise that most of peace and tranquility can be drawn from nature. The house is on the south-east side surrounded by vineyards and on the north-west side overlooking the sea.
Atrium as a spatial element offers shelter, privacy, wind protection and pleasant climatic conditions, as well as orientation towards nature. An atrium represents the base cell of the house, made by creating and unification of individual atriums (Patio’s). Each Patio has its own character, look, smell due to the variety of materials, its own life.
The house offers a multitude of varied ambiences that blend and pass from one to another. It creates a space that offers complete privacy while at the same time offers a possibility to socialize with individual family members, or hanging out with friends.
