Ljubno ob Savinji, Slovenia
Superform: Marjan Poboljšaj, Anton Žižek, Špela Gliha
The client intends to build a new facility in the town of Ljubno ob Savinji, to serve as an expansion of the existing production capacities. The new facility would be spatially and functionally adjoined to the existing facilities and would accommodate production with its accompanying program and business activity.
SPATIAL DESIGN CONCEPT
The new object is composed of two volumes of cylindrical shape, which are fused with each other into a single object. The new building enfolds the existing production facility from three sides. The round shape directs the visitor or user around the facility to the new entrance of the business section, which is located in the atrium between the old and the new building.
The entrance is marked by the split of the cylinder in its height to two disks, which results in an overhang, offering a roof over the entrance. Slanted sun breakers on the facade further contribute to the dynamics and direct the movement towards the entrance. The entire building is clad with polished aluminium sheet, which gives the building a touch of mechanics.
The upper floor is connected to the existing administration building via a console corridor. The current administrative facility is elevated for an additional floor.
