BASIS
The client has a minimally allowed building plot of 400m2. The house is designed for two people but can be easily converted into a family house with three bedrooms. The project includes the construction of a residential building and a shed with a total area of approximately 110m2, along with parking for two cars. The main design principle is a house with as much garden space and as little house space as possible.
CONCEPT
The basic concept for the house design is the idea of a "House with as much garden as possible and as little house as possible." We enhanced this idea by making the garden the main tool for shaping the architecture and outdoor space.
The garden is expressed through the planting of bamboo throughout the entire non-buildable area (excluding the driveway, vegetable garden, and courtyard with a tree). The "cluster of cubes/objects" is interconnected, and with its tectonics of individually trimmed roofs and the texture of the vertical green wooden facade, it becomes reminiscent of bamboo stems, whose height extends beyond the plane of planted bamboo.
The ground floor of the house, with its glazed facade, is directly connected to the exterior and greenery. The glazed facade allows the living space to extend into the garden, thereby visually increasing the house's area. Despite the house being located right next to the street, the bamboo screen offers complete privacy, creating the feeling of being alone in a secluded glade. The upper floor with a green wooden facade rises from the plane of the bamboo, blending the house into the overall garden appearance.
The bamboo garden acts as a pedestal for the House with a vertical green wooden facade, giving the impression that the house grows out of the garden. This design represents an analogy to the "Garden of Eden," embodying the most romantic and ideal living environment. The house is the garden, and the garden is the house.
