BASIS
The client’s brief was to design a house made of solid wood, constructed from timber logs. The conceptual starting point is a reinterpretation of the hayrack, kozolec, a traditional Slovenian wooden structure.

DESIGN CONCEPT
Parallel, free-standing hayrack walls are placed on the site and connected by roofs into a coherent architectural whole. Timber logs within the walls are spaced at varying intervals, creating different degrees of privacy, daylight, shading, and transparency.
A defining feature of the house is the large, four-meter-long movable sliding panels on the south façade of the living area. Composed of logs, the panels allow the house to open or close toward the south, forming a flexible façade that adapts to weather conditions, privacy needs, and transitions between interior and exterior spaces.
