CONCEPT
The idea for the design of the cashier’s desk comes from an image and function of a chandelier. The already existing ceiling is made from hanged galvanized bars. On the spot where the counter is placed, these are lowered to the height of 2.20m, while at the same time 1.15m high hollow galvanized bars lift from the floor.
The computer, computer screen, keyboard, cash-register and the brochures are submerged into the counter (the bars are cut), which creates a rectangular solid. For the same volume of the submerged objects there’s an added cube on the ceiling along the hanging bars. These are built in a metal box – a trough, 10cm high, dipped in screed.
The counter represents an extension of the ceiling and as such connects both parts into a new, collective object – a ‘sales chandelier’.
