Assignement:
Investor is planing to renovate and add a new program to the house Užmah at the village of Planina. The house will function as an apartment hotel. On the ground floor there’s supposed to be a wellness center.
CONCEPT
We propose a complete approach to the renovation, which results in a new attractive facility that unifies the tradition of the location and the house. The basis of the concept is a „gank“ with a triangular gable, which becomes the archetype in the process of the creation. This is, through the process of transformation, redesigned to a new spatial generative element. A new spatial element that is of a public character, that communicates with its surroundings and begins on the ground floor as the wellness center. The outer semi-transparent membrane of the „gank“ is divided into three fields, which originate from the form of the gable and indirectly from the wavy landscape. The triangular fields are filled with wooden lamellas. A group of triangular fields stem from a pattern of trunks sloping down the river. Because lamellas are turned in different directions, a dinamic collage of three-dimensional facade is created.
